Separated from spouse for some time and she will not give me her ssn so that i can file my taxes?

Not sure where she's at and she has filed married filing seperate, so I have to also.Separated from spouse for some time and she will not give me her ssn so that i can file my taxes?
The sure way to deal with this is to file a paper return with ';unavailable'; in the box where her SS# would go. Write a note with the return and explain your efforts to get the number. There could be other ways depending on your circumstances but those are unknown to us at the moment.Separated from spouse for some time and she will not give me her ssn so that i can file my taxes?
don't you have it on past year's 1040's, of which you're supposed to keep copies of for several years after filing?
Contact the IRS and ask them what you should do.

You can always pay to get a previous years tax return which would include her SSN.

Or, get a lawyer, complete the divorce and order her to turn it over so you can file your taxes.
You'd have to file married filing separately even if she hadn't, unless you have your qualifying child living with you, then you might be able to file as head of household.

Did you and she ever file a joint return? If you have a copy, it would be on there - if you filed a joint return in the past but don't have a copy, you can get a transcript from the IRS.
Look at last years taxes and it should be there :)
