How long is the petition of a US permanent resident for a spouse take?

Up to 5 years. First a visa number must be available and that takes time. How long is the petition of a US permanent resident for a spouse take?
It took my daughter-in-law 4 years! The people at the Orlando office of the INS were super slow and made tons of mistakes; don't put your application through there! Jacksonville was much faster once her application was reassigned. Just pick an office that isn't very busy! How long is the petition of a US permanent resident for a spouse take?
They say the fastest now is 5 months. My cousin's husband who works in SF state told us.
It takes longer than it takes for the spouse of a US citizen, which is usually 9-12 months. For spouses of resident aliens it takes at least a couple of years.
For my wife it took about 3 months from the time we sent the petition for adjustment of status for I-485 (change of status from K-1 to Conditional Resident). I believe it will vary depending whether you have all the ts crossed and is dotted and all documentation required and fees payed up. Also it depends on which location is processing your case and their workload. They keep a list of processing dates, see the list below.
There is no time frame required. USCIS can take an infinite amount of time to process your application. Now that is service, I wish my job was like that. If you don't like it try to shop around.
